Drawing, and now painting, has always been a place of peace for me. Ever since I was really tiny, I have had art materials and have used them to sooth myself and insulate myself from the world around me. Today is no different. This is my current work-in-progress and she is a huge undertaking. Literally huge, she is 72 inches wide. I've had moments of panic thinking, "What have I got myself into?" Nevertheless, I'm in love. She is providing a place of peace for me and I will see her through and hopefully send her into the world at her best.
I have to say thank you to all of you, because it is thinking of you that has kept me sane through this turbulent year. So many of you have connected with me in zoom meet-ups, my new online workshops and mentorship groups or called for long chats. Some have even come to pop into the studio or stayed for dinners - on the patio of course, so that social distancing can be maintained. These moments have warmed my heart and with each little note of hello, I am reminded of all the goodness in the world and of how blessed I am to be one of the artists you encourage and support.
Since my last note to you, my painting "Cicerone" took First Place in the Women Artists Of The West 50th Annual Exhibition. I am so proud to be apart of this long-standing arts organization highlighting women artists.
My painting "Mid-Summer Night's Dream" won an Award of Excellence in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society Online Showcase. She found her home last year and her new mom is so proud. Finally, my painting "Hell's Bell" was made a finalist in the American Women Artists Making Their Mark Exhibition at the Booth Museum of Western Art.
For those interested in collecting something small, I have a handful of tiny eye studies available. They are a variety of sizes around 4x4-ish and come framed and ready to display with shipping included. Click here to see all that are available.
